UCA Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts
Type: New Construction | Category: Higher Education | Square footage: 99,620
The Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts, a substantial 99,620-square-foot facility, is situated on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway, Arkansas.
Comprising three distinct buildings—the main building, the 3D building, and the kiln building—the center is a hub for artistic endeavors within the university community. The main building houses the Art Department and features a Concert Hall, a rehearsal hall for the music department, and a black box-style performance space for the Theatre program. The Concert Hall, with a seating capacity of approximately 460, and the black box, accommodating around 190, provide versatile settings for various artistic expressions. The structural foundation of the Windgate Center predominantly consists of sturdy structural steel, supported by carefully placed drilled piers. To enhance both durability and aesthetics, masonry walls complement the building’s core structure. The exterior of the facility showcases a well-balanced mix of materials, including brick, Metal Composite Material (MCM) panels, and aluminum storefront elements, ensuring resilience against the elements.
