Decades of Doing
Right by You

Foundations Laid in Mutual Respect.

Trust grows with every handshake, every promise kept, and every project finished the way it was meant to be.

At Baldwin & Shell, those moments add up to decades of doing right by our customers. We deliver more than just completed projects; we deliver the confidence that comes from knowing your goals and your investment are in capable hands. That’s the foundation we’ve built our name on, and it’s why so many choose to build with us again and again.

Core Values

Our values define how we treat our partners and each other, forming the foundation of every successful project.

GUIDED BY RELATIONSHIPS. GROUNDED IN COMMUNITY.

At Baldwin & Shell, our leaders bring decades of experience shaped by integrity, accountability, and relationships that last long after a project ends.

That same philosophy extends beyond our jobsites and into the communities we serve—driving us to invest in programs that protect, uplift, and strengthen the next generation. For us, leadership isn’t just about guiding teams; it’s about standing with our communities, building trust, and making a meaningful difference wherever we work.

Our Commitment in Practice

Partnering with Baldwin & Shell means you get predictable delivery and consistent communication.

Whether your project is design-build, CMAR, or design-bid-build, our role is the same: align scope, budget, and dates up front so every decision supports your priorities.

Owners select the delivery method; we bring discipline and accountability to whichever path you choose.

Safety sets the pace on site while field leadership keeps decisions moving and resolves issues before they affect cost or schedule.

At turnover, you get what you need to run the facility: documentation, training, and responsive warranty support. We carry that same accountability through our diverse teams, sustainable delivery practices, disciplined finances, and support for children’s advocacy.

A Legacy Built to Last

In 1946, when the country was still finding its footing after the war, three men – P.W. Baldwin, Werner Knoop, and Olen Cates – chose to build something lasting. They combined construction know‑how, engineering insight, and steady leadership to form a company grounded in integrity and craftsmanship. Their belief was simple but powerful: if you build with honesty, people will come back. When Robert J. Shell joined a few years later, he brought a customer‑first philosophy that transformed that belief into a culture. What they created wasn’t just a construction company—it was the beginning of a legacy.

A Culture Built Around Customers

As the decades unfolded, one truth kept proving itself: buildings don’t create loyalty; people do. Our work earned trust because we treated every project like a partnership. That commitment shows up in an 85% repeat‑customer rate, but the real story is in the handshakes, the calls that come years later, and the projects that turn into lifelong relationships. From the first budget conversation to the last day on site, we show up with transparency, accountability, and the craftsmanship our founders insisted on.

Challenging Work, Confident Delivery

Through the years, owners have brought us challenges that stretched us – schools that needed to open on time, industrial plants that couldn’t shut down, hospitals that had to stay fully operational, and communities that needed new places to gather and grow. Instead of stepping back, we stepped up.
To meet those demands, we expanded our capabilities: construction management, general contracting, structural steel, pre‑engineered metal buildings, concrete, tenant improvements, and self‑perform craft that keeps quality in our own hands. As the industry changed, so did we – moving from union to non‑union in 1979, then reorganizing as Baldwin & Shell in 1983, leading the shift toward negotiated delivery long before it became industry standard.
Our footprint grew with our expertise. Offices in Springdale, Jonesboro, and Memphis helped us serve communities across the region. Specialized teams for Construction Services and Industrial & Structural Services have allowed us to bring sharper focus and deeper knowledge to every project.

Looking Forward

Today, Baldwin & Shell continues to evolve under the leadership of President and CEO Bobby Gosser, who joined the company in 1987 and grew through the ranks one project at a time. His journey mirrors our own -built on hard work, steady progress, and a deep belief in doing what’s right. What began in 1946 with three men and a shared vision has grown into a company defined by its people, its principles, and its partnerships. We still believe what our founders believed: quality matters, relationships matter, and every project—big or small—is an opportunity to earn trust. We’re proud of where we’ve been. We’re energized by where we’re going. And we’re committed to building the relationships—and the structures—that will carry this legacy far into the future.
