Gestalt Power Center Academy Southeast K-8

Type: Renovation & Addition     |     Category: K-12 Education   |     Square footage: 80,455

Gestalt Power Academy at Malco Crossing transformed a former Malco Cinema into a modern K–8 school campus through extensive adaptive reuse and new construction.

The project included a full interior renovation of the existing 30-year-old, 20-theater building to create classrooms, administrative offices, student commons, and support spaces, along with major building system upgrades to meet current educational and life-safety standards. A new 12,000-square-foot annex was constructed on the north side of the site to expand instructional space and serve as a hardened storm shelter, providing critical safety for students and staff. Close coordination throughout design and construction allowed the team to address unforeseen conditions common in adaptive reuse projects while maintaining momentum. The completed campus delivers a resilient, student-centered learning environment that supports both academic growth and community safety.
