Theatre Squared

Type: new construction     |     Category: culture & Entertainment

With 280-350 seats in flexible configuration, TheatreSquared is the most intimate auditorium we have ever built. This 50,000-square-foot cultural landmark does not stop at uniting two intimate theatres and full-stage rehearsal space.

A three-level commons and café welcome the public throughout the week, regardless of the season schedule. Outdoor gathering spaces provide fresh air and inspiration, and production workshops, offices, and artists’ apartments integrate all phases of the creation and consumption of art into one unified home. TheatreSquared is a highly complex structure that required extreme coordination measures to properly place all of the buildings’ systems (which are largely visually exposed) to meet functional performance requirements but also to protect the architectural design integrity. This was achieved through the use of 3D BIM modeling beginning in the pre-construction phase and extending through the construction processes in the field.
