Baldwin & Shell is committed to a safe environment for our employees, clients and communities. The superintendents featured above all have impeccable safety records ranging from 10 to 40 years without an accident.
More than 50 years ago, we were the first Arkansas contractor to effectively implement a written safety program. All project superintendents are required to complete annual training for First Aid and CPR. They also hold weekly safety and training meetings on every job site for all workers. We are also a part of Safety and Health Arkansas Associated General Contractors Partnership for Excellence (SHAAPE), which was created by OSHA and the Arkansas Chapter of Associated General Contractors of America to encourage site safety. Our safety program includes safety inspections, toolbox talks and safety videos to highlight the importance of working safely.
An annual inspection is conducted on a job site chosen by the OSHA inspector to verify compliance. Our safety director and our safety team perform informal and formal job site audits regularly with written documentation.
Safety is paramount and the first item we take into account during a project. Our goal is to have each person leave the jobsite as they arrived. To accomplish this we set out to find and control recognized hazards on the jobsite and provide the lowest level of exposure to manage risk for all workers.
