Texarkana First United Methodist Church

Texarkana First United Methodist Church

Type: New Construction

Category: Religious

Square footage: 50,000

This church is a replica of the original church building, which was built in 1904 and destroyed in a roofing fire.

The First United Methodist Church of Texarkana was built to match the original using modern construction methods. Replicating the history of the church in a limited construction area proved to be a challenge for the Baldwin & Shell staff and subcontractors, and ultimately showcased the company’s craftsmanship and attention to detail. The team shored the adjacent structure with drilled piers prior to construction of the new church basement. Improvements included 100 additional sanctuary seats, handicap accessibility, fireproofing, and space for a larger organ.
